Bar Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Bar Supervisor is responsible for leading bar operations to deliver exceptional guest service in a refined, welcoming environment. This role combines hands-on bartending with leadership responsibilities, including supervising bar staff, managing inventory, and ensuring alignment with the hotel’s standards of service and hospitality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Oversees daily bar operations and team performance ensuring service consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • Provides on-the-job training, mentorship, and guidance to bar staff.
  • Works closely with leadership and banquet/event teams for bar setups and service during hotel functions.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages to hotel patrons when needed.
  • Creates and manages staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage and service efficiency.
  • Oversees daily opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS accuracy when on shift.
  • Manages inventory levels and ordering of liquor, mixers, bar tools, and supplies.
  • Enforces company policies and ensures bar staff adhere to all state and local alcohol service laws.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and upscale bar environment aligned with hotel standards.
  • Approaches all encounters with guests and team members in attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Assist in ensuring guest are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs.
  • Handles guest complaints with professionalism, ensuring issues are resolved or addressed as needed.
  • Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPIRIENCE REQUIRED:

   MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

   MINIMUM EXPIRIENCE: 

  • Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
  • Knowledge of local and state liquor laws, health codes, and safety standards.
  • Completion of mixology, bar keeping, or other related training required. 
  • At least one year of related experience or supervisor role preferred.

   MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on service consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. 
  • Ability to learn cash register software and system processes used by the bar.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and use a calculator.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English. Ability to effectively communicate to managers, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for a prolonged period of time.
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently use computer and other special operating equipment.
  • Must be of legal drinking age.
